THE RIDER ON THE RED HORSE

The first seal judgment is deception, the world is deceived by a false peace, false hopes and false prosperity. At the very moment when the world is drunkwith the euphoria of false hope, the rider on the red horse comes onto the world scene.

"And there went out another horse that was red", verse 4, it is the same rider, antichrist, but he has changed horses. The program has changed. This horse is red, the symbolism of a fiery red horse is a portrait of war and bloodshed! This coming world ruler came to power on a white horse promising peace. He is no sooner in power and the bubble breaks! "And power was given to him that sat thereon to take peace from the earth", verse 4. Peace vanishes! "And that they should kill one another"

Paul lays that scenario in 1 Thess. 5:3, "For when they shall say, peace and saftey; then sudden destruction cometh upon them". Peace disappears in the home, in the streets, in the towns and cities. A new kind of war begins, a war such as the world has never seen before. Men and women turn on each other and begin to kill each other. Anger, disallusionment, predjudice, greed, avarice, hunger and injustice, its the harvest of unrestrained sin.

Possibly all out racial war, religious strife, poor against rich, young against old, country against country. How will it all unfold? We do not know, but there will be unprecidented world-wide bloodshed. "And there was given unto him a great sword", verse 4, in the euphoria of antichrist coming to power, all of the world's armies and police forces were placed under his control.

Now as the mad rage of bloodshed sweeps the world, antichrist uses his great sword, his armies and his police, his KGB and his Gestapo, he turns them against the people to whom he promised peace.

Millions of people will be killed, by the time we get down to verse 8, one quarter of the earth's population will be killed! At today's population, that would equal 1 3/4 billion people (1750 million). When you get to chapter 9, 1/3 of all thpaperose remaining will also have been killed, a total of half the world's population.

The question is why would God send such judgment upon the world of men? There two things that are beyond the capacity of men to comprehend!

FIRST God's love for men and women is beyond our comprehension.

Could we with ink the ocean fill, And were the sky of paper made,

Were every stalk on earth a quill, And every man a scribe by trade.

To write the love of God above, Would drain the ocean dry,

Nor could the scroll, contain the whole, though streched from sky to sky.

The love of God for mankind is far greater than man can in his wildest imagination even begin to fathom.

SECOND God's hatred and anger and judgment upon sin is also beyond man's comprehension. Man cannot begin to comprehend how much God hates sin! Men cannot begin to understand how severely God is going to judge sin!

Psalm 7:11 says "God is angry with the wicked every day" (see also 2 Thess.1:8 - Rev. 20:15)

In Mark 9: Jesus taught about hell, three times He said, "The wicked shall be cast into hell fire that shall not be quenched". Three times he added, "Where the worm dieth not and the fire is not quenched".

God hates sin so much that sinners will be cast out of his presence forever! God hates sin so much that sinners will be tormented in hell forever! The world needs to know that! You need to know that!

There is only one hope.

God loved the world of sinners lost, and ruined by the fall.

Salvation full at highest cost, He offers free to all.

Love brings the glorious fullness in, And to His saints makes known

The blessed rest from in bred sin, Through faith in Christ alone.

God says, "Boast not thyself of tomorrow....now is the day of salvation"

Be ready, "It is appointed unto man once to die, but after this the judgment"

Next week we will consider the rider on the black horse.

It will be sufficient to ponder these words, which occur four times in this book, without reading further in this terrible chapter, which shows the depths of depravity to which man may sink apart from the grace of God. Where Christ is not enthroned as King, drunkenness, impurity, cruelty, selfishness, are supreme, and pursue their ravages unchecked. How different where He reigns in righteousness, and where His will is done as it is done in heaven!

The Book of Judges depicts the state of the heart which has not admitted the Kingship of our Saviour. Where there is no recognition of this, and a man does as he likes, then the heart breeds all manner of uncleanness; and sin when it is finished bringeth forth death.

In connection with the present marvellous movement afoot in our colleges, five hundred Japanese students met recently under the motto, "Make Jesus King." Oh that this might be our life-motto! We must crown Him lord of all.

Let young men and women, who may read these words, specially ponder this suggestion. Perpetual failure in life indicates failure in consecration. If you are continually broken in upon by raids of evil, it is certain that you have never enthroned the Son of God. He is never Saviour in the fullness of His power till He is acknowledged King. Directly the coronation has taken place, He assumes the responsibility of putting down all rule, authority, and power; overcoming the evils that had held sway; and bringing every ' thought into captivity. Such are the warnings and appeals of this chapter and the next. "Make Jesus King."
