What Destination ?

When you head your car out onto the highway you must choose which way you are going to go, your destination is determined by the way you choose to travel. It is the same with nations, they chart a course and they arrive at their destination, prosperity and blessing or destruction, that is the story of history.

America has been charting a course for some time now. Think of the course the American courts and government have been choosing. Some years ago the courts decided to legalize abortion, since that time 50 million babies have been slaughtered in their mother's wombs. Long ago the government controlled school system decided to teach evolution and deny that there is a God that created heaven and earth as God's Word is clearly states. The courts, the politicians and the media have laboured mightily to legalize homosexuality and same sex marriage, again this involved a rejection of God and His word.

Long ago America chose the direction it desired to go and they chose it over the objections of multitudes of other Americans. A few years ago President Obama confirmed that the nation had arrived at the destination they set out for. Obama announced in his inaugural address that America is no longer a "Christian nation." An opinion poll taken days before showed that a majority of Americans no longer believe Christianity is the main religion of America.

Two court rulings had just confirm this fact. Some time ago the courts ruled prayer in schools was unconstitutional and it was banned. A judge in Illinois has ruled that a moment of silence in the classroom cannot be allowed just in case the children may have thoughts of God. In the  new America that is intolerable.

In another ruling by the Supreme Court, a law that protected children from pornography on the internet was struck down as being unconstitutional. Do you not think the Lord in heaven is taking note that the leaders of America are exposing children to the destructive, corrupting influence of pornography and preventing children from praying to Him or even perchance having thoughts about Him?

The next move by Obama was to pass a law against hate crime, a law which in other countries has facilitated the prosecution of pastors and believers for teaching and preaching what God says in His Word about homosexuality.

America now has a new President, a man who is not a Christian but a man who is seeking to reverse some of America's moves against the the Word of God. In response, the media, the Democratic Party and much of America is furiously and ferociously trying to stop him.

America as a nation has turned away from God. If the media and the vast host of anti-God progressives and one world advocates have their way, should we be surprised if the judgment of God falls on America, and when it does it will be what the nation has chosen.

Some may argue that for the sake of the remnant of believers in America God will hold back His judgment as in the days of Lot. What if the rapture of the church were to take place? What would hold back God's judgment then?

My friend if you are not saved now is the time to forsake the world and the judgment that is certain to come.

"Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever" (1 John 2:15-17).

"He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him" (John 3:36).

AS long as the kings of Judah remained true to their allegiance to God they were able to keep in subjection the surrounding nations; but just so soon as they revolted from God these peoples revolted from them. It was as though power descended into them from the source of all power; and when the link between themselves and God was broken, that between them and their subordinates was broken also.

This applies very widely: To our passions. ‑‑ If they master you, rebelling against and revolting from your hand, it is because there is some flaw in your consecration, and you have forsaken to some extent the Lord God.

To our families. ‑‑ When the heads of a home are in perfect unity with each other and God, they may generally expect that their children will grow up submissive and obedient. Their authority will be recognized and honored. Revolt in the home indicates very often some lapse in obedience and loyalty to God.

To our influence over men. ‑‑ When the soul is in blessed fellowship with God, power flows into it from Him, before which strongholds are overthrown. "I am full of power by the Spirit of the Lord," said the prophet. "I am a man under authority, and have soldiers under me," said the centurion.

Give yourself entirely to Jesus. Obey Him absolutely; receive by faith from Him living power and grace; be a channel through which He may pour Himself; and you will find that men and things will fall into line at your bidding, and you shall receive power. Our Libnahs will not revolt unless we forsake the Lord God of our fathers.

As we come to verse 6: we read, "And before the throne there was a sea of glass like unto crystal:"

The Brazen Laver in the Tabernacle and in this temple was for the purpose of cleansing the priests for service. In the temple it was called the Brazen Sea. Now in heaven we will no longer need cleansing, we will have arrived at a place of fixed righteousness.

What a glorious thing that will be! No more sinning! No more evil thoughts creeping in from our old sin nature, our sin nature will be gone forever. We now have the power available to live in victory over our sin nature, but then it will be gone forever, no more possibility of sin. How wonderful that will be, one of the greatest aspects of our glorious future state.

"And in the midst of the throne, and round about the throne, were four beasts (living ones) full of eyes before and behind."

These like the elders are real beings, though they are symbols of truth. Who are these fascinating, living beings who are found, "in the midst of the throne?" There is much speculation about these creatures, it is probable that these four living creatures are cherubim.

It is helpful to see how Ezekiel describes the cherubim he saw in his vision. (see Ezekiel 10:19-22) The task of cherubims is to guard the Holiness of God. (Gen. 3:24) Notice it says they were "round about the throne" and they were "full of eyes before and behind." They were equiped and positioned to guard the Holiness of God, remember at that time and even today Satan has access to Heaven. That access will be terminated at the Mid-Trib point.

Notice the symbolic aspect to these beings, "The First - was like a lion, and the Second - like a calf, and the Third - had a face as a man, and the Fourth - like a flying eagle."

What is this all about? The Spirit of God has revealed this, and it is revealed for a purpose. It is revealed that we might understand it.

These beings are gathered around the throne, in the very presence of Christ, so much so that they reflect the very likeness of Christ. Remember when Moses came down off the mount, it says "The skin of his face shone," WHY? He had been in Gods presence and reflected Gods Glory.

These living ones (created beings) reflect to us something abou our Lord and Savior. MATTHEW pictures christ as the King, the Lion of the Tribe of Judah. MARK pictures Him as a calf (ox), an ox is a servant , Christ came as a servant, a servant of God and a servant of man. LUKE draws the portrait of a man, tracing his ancestry back to Adam. Christs perfect humanity shines forth in Luke. JOHN presents Christ as the one who came from heaven, whose dwelling place was and is now Heaven, So he is like the eagle who dwells in the vaults of heaven.

The cherubim were like Christ because they were so much with Him. As we abide in Christ and His word abides in us we, here and now, are being changed into His image. But we have the glorious prospect of one day being perfected in His image. "We shall be like Him for we shall see Him as He is."

WHAT A GLORIOUS FUTURE AWAITS US!

Some day, with my face toward the gold-tinted west, I,ll see the light fade, and lie down to my rest, But O what a joy when the morning shall break, And I, in His likeness made glorious awake.

With my friends I have loved and have lost for awhile, Again I shall meet where no sorrows beguile; Through ages unending His glory to sing, To worship and praise at the feet of my king.

Where death never comes, Where all are at rest in the City of Gold, Tis there while the years of Eternity roll,
I ll dwell with Lord in that home of the soul.

My friend, do you have that prospect? If you are not saved, you can be, and that prospect will be yours. For more information about how to be saved, please go to the menu on the "NEWSLETTER" page and click on "HAVE YOU CONSIDERED"
