“Matthew 1: Pt. 3”
by Art Sadlier
February 21st, 2010

We have looked at 'The King in Matthew', now we want to look at 'The King on the Throne'.

1 - The Present Throne

At this moment Christ is seated  at the right hand of the Father as co-regent of the earth. Paul said in Colossians 3:1 "...seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God".

2 - His Future Throne

The angel said in Luke 1:32, "He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of His Father David.``

There is a yet future day when the King will sit on His throne in Jerusalem. He will rule in glory over a literal earthly kingdom.

3 - Another Throne

In Galatians 4:6 Paul said to the Galatians, "God has sent forth the spirit if His Son into your hearts...."

There is no visible throne of Christ in the world today and there is no visible kingdom of Christ in the world today. There is an unseen throne and an unseen kingdom in our world today. Today there are multiplied thousands of hearts in this world in which Christ is crowned undisputed king! There are multitudes of hearts where the will of Christ is the final authority. Christ reigns sovereign Lord and King of those lives, His throne is in their hearts.

Though it is not visible to the eyes of the world, nevertheless, it is a very real kingdom and a very real throne.

May I respectfully ask you, who really runs and controls your life?  Is Jesus Christ the undisputed King and ruler of your heart and life?  We have an example of what it means to crown Christ king of your life. it is found in Luke 5:11, "And when they had brought their ships to land, they forsook all, and followed him."

I stood alone at the bar of God in the hush of the twilight dim,

And faced the question that pierced my heart: What will you do with Him?

Crowned or crucified? Which will it be? No other choice was offered to me.

I looked on the face so marred with tears that were shed in His agony;

The look in His kind eyes broke my heart, T`was so full of love for me.

"The crown or the cross," it seemed to say, "For or against me, choose thou today."

He held out His loving hands to me, While He pleadingly said, "obey"!

"Make me thy choice, for I love thee so"  And I could not say Him nay.

Crowned, not crucified, This it must be! No other way was open to me.

I knelt in tears at the feet of Christ, In the hush of the twilight dim,

All that I was or hoped  or sought, I surrendered unto Him.

Crowned not crucified!  My heart shall know no King but Christ, who loved me so.
