“Revelation 13:9-10”

"If any man have an ear, let him hear. He that leadeth into captivity shall go into captivity: he that killeth with the sword must be killed with the sword. Here is the patience and the faith of the saints."

This is not only a warning to the wicked servants of Antichrist, but it is also a word of comfort to the tribulation saints. The Church has already been raptured prior to the beginning of the Tribulation period. Multitudes will place their faith in Christ during the Tribulation, most will be martyred but many will survive those awful days.

Those who are enemies of God and His people will pay the supreme price for their sins, captivity in hell forever. The persecuted saints of that time will have the comfort of knowing that God is in control and that their persecutors will be the real losers.

The exhortation is not to resist the Antichrist. This is his day!  God is allowing him to do his worst. In the face of death, believers are exhorted to submit to the beast. The fact is that those tribulation saints are better off dead. Death will be an entrance into the very presence of God and the sharing of the Glories of Christ forever.

This is a demonstration of the "Patience and faith of the saints". What a contrast with the ungodly!  I am reminded of how God held up Job to Satan and said in effect, Satan your not like Job.

"He that killeth with the sword must be killed with the sword", what a comfort for those saints to know that God is in control. They are encouraged to know that they are on the winning side. We look ahead to Revelation 19:20, "And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet that wrought the miracles before him, with which he deceived them that had received the mark of the beast, and them that worshipped his image, these both were cast alive into a lake of fire burning with brimstone."

The child of God in this present evil world is always on the losing side in this present kingdom of darkness. We have read the last chapter of the book. That is what those tribulation saints have in these verses, the last chapter of the book. Remember Jesus said, "He that loses his life shall find it, and he that saveth his life shall lose it".

Remember the promise of God to those who are faithful, "Fear none of those things which thou shalt suffer.....be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life," Revelation 2:10. If we get our eyes on and set our hearts on the promises of God we will be overcomers. What a glorious hope all of God's children have. --  PRAISE THE LORD!
