“Darkening days”

Their is a growing realization by some that our world is heading to a cataclysmic point of no return. Terorism that is sparked by a clash of religion and culture. Nuclear armament that is spiraling out of control all around the world. Add to that postmodern thought that is tearing down the very foundation of western civilalization.

Prof. F.M. Esfandiary summed up the disinegration of our society. He sees this change as advancement rather than what it is. the plunging of man into a dark moral abyss.

He says......"In just the last ten years, we have learned more about our genes and brains, about our planet and resources, and the solar system, than in all previous history. And we are only beginning....Powerful forces are revolutionizing life on the planet. Decades from now, the 1980's will be remembered as a time when the world accelerated toward a new age....The centralized, bureaucratized infrastructures and congested cities of the industrial age are becoming increasingly superfluous. They will give way to teleducation, telemedicine, electronic funds, teleshopping, teleconferencing. You connect from where you are....Parents no longer exercise unilaterial influence over their children.....It matters less who is the legislator or president. The driving forces of change are increasingly outside government....We cannot switch to new technologies and new resources while holding on to traditional values, the nuclear family, puritan morality, the work ethic, patriotism. No moral majority or tradition-bound administration can now stop or even slow down the culmulative, interlocking impact of social and technological advances."

That is postmodernism, what he is saying is that governments cannot stop this moral freefall. Churches are unable to resist the new morality. It doesn't matter what preachers preach or how parents try to influence their children. Forces that have been set in motion will determine the future.

Those who know God's word realize that this all represents the world rushing toward the dark night of the tribulation period and the coming judgement of God on a rebellious world.

This postmodern thought explains two recent news items.

The first item.....The Germain court determined that a parents refusal to send their children to either a state or a state approved private school is misuse of parental custody rights, which violates the wellbeing of the child. It specifies custody withdrawal for violation of mandatory school attendance.

The Second item....a mother, Mrs. Mafi, fled her home state of Utah, leaving her home and possessions behind when a judge threatened to take away custody of her children for failing to abandon homeschooling and registrating them in a public school, giving her one day to comply.

Postmodern thought is about to turn our world upsidedown. You can see such a world in Revelation 13:16-17.

David forsaw our day when he said,"If the foundations be destroyed, what can the righteous do?" Psl. 11:3 The answer is given in the next verse. "The Lord is in his holy temple, the LORD'S throne is in heaven: his eyes behold, his eyelids try, the children of men" God is in control, he may allow rebellion to run it's course, but he will have the last word, be patience believer, God's time will come.
